How to disable Bixby on Galaxy S and Note

Bixby is the AI assistant of Samsung just like Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana. With Bixby on your phone, you can complete most of the everyday tasks without doing a touch. But sometimes in Galaxy S8, S9, Note 8 and Note 9, the Bixby key is pressed accidentally and Bixby will launch unnecessarily. If you don’t use Bixby assistant and want to disable it completely or just want to disable its key or voice, then here is how to do it on your Galaxy S and Samsung Note.

Steps to login into Samsung account on Galaxy S and Note
If you’re not logged in with your Samsung account and you try to disable Bixby and its features, then your phone will ask you to sign in. So, before going to disable Bixby, you need to sign in into your Samsung account.
Steps:
  1. Swipe toward right side on your home screen or press the ‘Bixby’ key.
  2. Now, tap on ‘NEXT.’
  3. On Bixby Voice screen, select a Voice language.
  4. And tap ‘CONFIRM.’
  5. On the next screen, tap on ‘SIGN IN.’ It will be at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Enter your Samsung account details into the email and password field.
  7. And click on ‘SIGN IN.’
If you don’t have a Samsung account, then tap on ‘Create account’ > enter the details asked > Verify your account and your account has been created. Now, sign in with your account.
Bixby is different in different versions of Samsung. On Samsung running on Oreo it is different, and on Android 9 Pie or One UI, it is different. For both Android version guidelines are given below, use according to your version.

Steps for disabling Bixby Voice:
  1. Go to ‘Samsung home screen.’
  2. And Swipe toward the right to open Bixby. If Bixby does not open, you can also use the Bixby button located at the left side of the phone.
  3. Now tap on ‘Dots icon’ located at the right corner of the top menu bar.
  4. Select ‘Settings.’
  5. And turn off the Bixby Voice switch.
It’s done! Bixby is muted, now you’ll not hear Bixby voice when you press the button.
Steps for disabling Bixby key:
  1. Press the Bixby button located at the left side of the phone.
  2. Now, tap on ‘Cogs’ icon located at the right corner of the top menu bar.
  3. And turn off the Bixby key switch.
It’s done! Now, the key will not launch the Bixby Home.
Steps for removing Bixby Home from your home screen:
  1. Go to ‘Samsung home screen.’
  2. Tap and hold the ‘Empty space’ on the screen. Don’t remove until the menu does not appear.
  3. Swipe right and look for the ‘Bixby Home’ window.
  4. Turn off the ‘Bixby Home’ button, when you find Bixby window.
That’s it! Now you’re totally free with the Bixby.
How to disable Bixby Voice, Bixby key and complete Bixby on Galaxy S9 Pie and Note 9 Oreo/Pie
  1. Press the Bixby button located at the left side of the phone.
  2. Now tap on ‘Dots icon’ located at the right corner of the top menu bar.
  3. Select ‘Settings.’
  4. Tap on ‘Bixby key.’
  5. Tap on ‘Press twice to open Bixby.’
That’s it! Now, Bixby will activate when you double press the button. In Bixby 2.0 version you can’t disable the Bixby completely only you can change settings.
