Twitter Relaunches Its “Review Before You Tweet” Experiment on iOS

Image
The microblogging platform Twitter has brought back its “review before you tweet” prompt that encouraged users to review their tweets that can be regarded as potentially offensive or harmful for others. The platform is testing it only for iOS users for the time being. In its recent tweet, the Twitter Support team announced the relaunch of this experiment. Sometimes, in the heat of the moment, people tend to say a few things they don’t really mean and regret later. That’s why the platform has relaunched this experiment that prompts users to review their reply that is potentially offensive or harmful for other people. Adding to this statement, Twitter Support further said that if a user thinks s/he has received a prompt by mistake, they can share their feedback with the team to help the company improve this feature. Last year, in May 2020, the platform had started testing the beta version of this feature on iOS, which encouraged people to review their replies that could be viewed a...

YouTube Rolls Out 4K Video Support for All Android Devices

Image
It looks like the popular video-sharing platform YouTube has quietly released a new update allowing people to stream 4K/60p videos on all mobile devices, even on the ones that do not have an Ultra HD display. Although people using devices with a lesser display resolution won’t get the same video quality as they would with a higher resolution screen, turning on the 4K video playback option will still benefit them. As per a trusted source, this change was discussed late last week on the YouTube subreddit first, where people observed that the option to select 4K video playback was now available to them even though their devices didn’t have a 4K display. Let’s assume a user has a Full HD+ phone; if they boost the video resolution to its max, doing so should still deliver an improved visual experience than viewing a 1080p video. Although needless to say, having a 4K device would provide the best visual experience. Currently, it seems as if this new feature is available, particularly o...

Image
The Google-owned YouTube is launching a new short-form video sharing feature called “Clips” in its beta version. With the roll-out of this new feature, creators will be able to clip out, give a title and share tiny 5 to 60 seconds long clips from an existing YouTube live stream or video. Undoubtedly, this new feature will be a great addition to the platform. These short clips will act as teasers for long-form  content writing , which sounds pretty good for creating buzz around your content or generating interest or excitement in the minds of your audience. YouTube has made this feature available in its beta version as of now since it is in its testing phase and is only accessible to a select group of gaming channels currently. Individuals using a desktop or Android device can only view this feature for the time being until it is fully developed. This means it is not available for iOS users at the moment but is expected to go public very soon. While users can use this feature on var...

Users who have accounts on Facebook can post photos, videos, stories, upload status, and connect with other people from across the globe. With the growing privacy concerns of people today, the  social media  giant is also taking significant measures to cater to their users’ need for better privacy on the platform. Back in 2017, the platform rolled out a feature that allows users to shield their current profile picture, and now last year in 2020, the company launched another feature, Facebook profile lock, which is kind of a successor to the profile guard feature. With the release of this profile lock feature, users can now add an extra security layer to their Facebook profile. A lock icon that shows up on a user’s profile indicates that the person has a locked profile. People who are not added as a friend will not be able t...

What Would Success for New Search Engines Look Like?

Image
Since the early 2000s, Google has been the most popularly used search engine across the world. Over this period, from being just another typical Silicon Valley startup and longshot to becoming the protector of the internet, controlling algorithms with enormous business implications and building a reputation for spreading its business into various areas in the name of offering an improved user experience. In recent times, the increased inspection over its business practices has resulted in government regulators getting tough on anticipated wrongdoings, and a fraction of users have also demonstrated a little inclination towards a more privacy-oriented search experience. Google is also facing opposition from other search engines regarding how it is presenting search engine alternatives to Android users in Europe. This wave of opposition to the market leader may develop favorable conditions for other search engines to contend themselves. New search engines, Neeva, founded by the former Sen...

A couple of months ago, YouTube had revamped the video streaming experience for Android and IOS users, and it is now back with another exciting update. Google’s most popular video streaming service, YouTube, has begun displaying the autoplay toggle inside the video player on desktop devices. Presently, YouTube’s autoplay toggle lies in the right-hand sidebar as part of the “Up Next” section that shows the upcoming videos. Back in October, the company had introduced the same feature for Android users, but it seems like they are introducing the same for desktop users. With the new update, this autoplay toggle will appear directly within the video player. It will sit right beside the left of the CC and Settings options with a play/pause icon, demonstrating the current state. As part of the video player, this icon will vanish when the user does not hover over it directly, thus presenting a cleaner user interface. This new deployment of the autoplay toggle is believed to make it easier for ...
